  • Participatory Budgeting Cycle 2 Committee Application

  • The Office of Equity is launching Cycle 2 of Participatory Budgeting, and we are making $2.5 million available for community projects that advance equity and improve neighborhoods. Participatory budgeting gives people real power over real money!

    What is Participatory Budgeting?

    Participatory Budgeting (PB) is a democratic process in which community members directly decide how to spend part of a public budget. This innovative process deepens democracy, builds stronger communities, and makes public budgets more equitable and effective.

     The roles of this Committee are to:

    • Share information about the PB process with community members, especially individuals from historically marginalized racial, ethnic and social groups;
    • Participate in community outreach events;
    • Actively encourage community members and organizations to submit PB grant proposals; and,
    • Review and evaluate PB grant proposals.

    The application period is open from March 9 – April 30, 2026. You can submit your application online or you can submit a print copy.

    The PB Committee will meet up to 7 times during this process. Attendance at all 7 meetings is required to participate in the PB Committee.  Most of the meetings will be conducted virtually. Please be sure to review the application so you fully understand the role and required time commitment.

    This is a paid volunteer position with a stipend of $50 per meeting available to participants for their time and contributions to the process.
